In 1994, Liane Smith, Intetech director, founded the European Federation of Corrosion working party on corrosion in the oil and gas industries. During her five years as chair, this working party produced books on carbon steels in sour service and corrosion-resistant alloys in sour service. These publications have had a major international influence and have since been combined with the established NACE MR 0175 document to form the new standard ISO 15156 “Materials for use in H2S-containing environments in oil and gas production”.
